Răzvan Suma
Răzvan Suma is one of the most sought after cellist in România. He recieved his Bachelor's and Master's degree from the Music University in Bucharest and also an Artist Diploma from the Longy School of Music in Cambrige, Massachusets.
Răzvan was born in 1977 in Cluj-Napoca. He won his first competition at the age of 7 by winning the Cântarea României Competition in 1985. He has recieved first prizes at the International Competition "Jeunesses Musicales" in Bucharest and at the International Competition in Chisinau, Republic of Moldavia. He is also a prize winner of the The International Music Competitions at Markneukirchen, Germany and at the G.B. Viotti inVerceli, Italy.
Having performed with over 25 orchestras throughout Europe and maitaining a steady recital schedule, he has performed with the Regio di Torino in Italy, The Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra of Bulgaria, Vogtland Philharmonic in Plauen Theatre in Germany. Also he has performed as soloist with the Philarmonie der Nationen in Germany, Radio Chamber Orchestra of Bucharest, and with every major orchestra within România.
As a recitalist he has performed in such countries as France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Hungary. He was featured solo recitalist at the MDR Music Festival in Dresden, Germany. Răzvan has also performed as soloist with the George Enescu Philharmonic in Bucharest and with the Istambul Symphony Orchestra in Istambul, Turkey.
As a member of the cello quartet "Cellissimo" he performed in Macao, China, Italy, Malysia. He is also a member of The Romanian Piano Trio with Alexandru Tomescu and Horia Mihail.
Most recently, Razvan won the Villa de Llanes competition. Playing with the pianist Josu Okinena, they just finished their first tour of recitals in Spain.
